Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 October 2026
These terms are the rules for using Letterbrawl at letterbrawl.com. Letterbrawl is run by Jason Brownbridge, a private individual in Switzerland ("we", "us"). By using Letterbrawl you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. The service
Letterbrawl is a free multiplayer word-race game. There are no ads and no payments. Power-ups, ratings and other in-game items have no money value. They cannot be bought, sold or exchanged for money.
We may change, add or remove features, or stop the game, at any time. Because the service is free, we have no duty to keep it running.
2. Who can use Letterbrawl
You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to online services on your own (in the EU this can be up to 16), you need permission from a parent or guardian to create an account.
3. Accounts
- You can play without an account. An account is optional.
- You sign in with a one-time email link. Keep access to your email account safe. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
- Give a real email address that belongs to you. One person, one account.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time on the Account page.
4. Acceptable use
Play fair and be kind. You must not:
- choose a display name, custom word or other text that is offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening, harassing or discriminatory, or that pretends to be another person, a moderator or us;
- use a display name that contains someone's personal details (for example a phone number or address);
- cheat, for example with bots, scripts, automated solvers, multiple accounts or by abusing bugs, to gain ratings, power-ups or wins;
- attack, overload, scrape or try to break into the service, other players' accounts or our providers' systems;
- use Letterbrawl for anything illegal, or to send spam or advertising;
- break other people's rights, including copyright and trademarks.
We may rename, hide or remove names, words or results that break these rules, reset ratings or items gained unfairly, and suspend or close accounts. We try to be fair, but we decide on our own.
If you see something that breaks these rules, please tell us at privacy@letterbrawl.com.
5. Your content
"Your content" means your display name, any custom words you enter, and results you share, including results from other daily puzzles that you paste.
- You keep any rights you have in your content.
- You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, copy and show your content inside Letterbrawl (for example to other players in a game, to your friends, or on leaderboards and result screens), only as needed to run the game. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that have already been shown in finished games or are kept in short-term backups.
- You confirm that you are allowed to share the content and that it follows these terms.
6. Our content and trademarks
The Letterbrawl name, design, code and word lists belong to us or our licensors. You may use the game for personal, non-commercial play. You may share screenshots and results.
Letterbrawl is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the publishers of other puzzles you can log or get reminders for, such as The New York Times Company (Wordle, Connections), Merriam-Webster (Quordle) or Britannica (Octordle). Their names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which game a result or reminder is about.
7. No warranty
Letterbrawl is a free hobby project. It is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or secure, that your ratings, items or results will never be lost, or that the word lists are complete or correct.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Swiss law, we exclude all liability for damage or loss from using or not being able to use Letterbrawl. This includes lost data, lost ratings or items, and indirect or consequential damage.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. In particular, under Swiss law (Art. 100 of the Swiss Code of Obligations) we remain liable for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence. If you are a consumer, you also keep any rights that the mandatory law of your country gives you.
9. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Letterbrawl at any time and delete your account on the Account page.
- We can suspend or close your account, or block access, if you break these terms or if we need to protect other players or the service. Where we can, we will tell you why.
- If we shut down Letterbrawl, we will try to give account holders notice so they can download their data.
- Sections 5 (licence for content already shown), 7, 8 and 10 continue after termination.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law, without its conflict-of-law rules. The courts at the operator's place of residence in Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also have the right to bring a claim in the courts where you live, and the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country still apply.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is important, we will tell you in the game or by email (if you have an account) before it takes effect. If you keep playing after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, please stop using Letterbrawl and delete your account.
